Dell has the 1800MP on sale now for 599CAD and I was tempted .. Wanted to know what you guys thought of this projector? The review on projectorcentral was quite positive but that review was quite a long time back, wonder market scenario has now changed? Any better projectors for similar or low prices?

Also I read that the projector is XGA (1024x768) but can display upto 1600x1200 also? How is this? Also how will HD content (720p) look at its native res (XGA) ?

If $599 CAD was your max it's not a bad deal, but it isnt going to be as good as a home theater projector. 1600x1200 is the max it can accept not display. It can only display native resolution. Widescreen DVDs and 720p HD would be 1024 by 576 with black bars on top and bottom.

If you can save a few hundred more you can get a 720p projector like this

I've had that one in my house (borrowed from my wife's office). PQ was reasonably good with DVD (set to progressive scan--don't let the pj be the deinterlacer). However, it is a slow colour wheel (2x) and if you are sensitive to rainbows, you may not like it. Try to see one in action first.
