1. The sony isn't a DLP
2. This is the reason that everyone is tightening their return policies. Try doing some research before you buy, then make a single purchase. There are instances where you may not be able to get exactly what you want the first go around, but come on.....4 tv's before you get to the 5th one, the one you like? That's ridiculous.

Regardless of the method employed to do it, I appreciate the 1:1 comparisons you were able to offer.

micro display, whatever. they're comparable technologys???
lcos vs sxrd vs dlp vs whatever.

The samsung was a pos, should I have not returned it? The fact is until I actually had them side by side I couldn't tell which one was better.
Also, the sony wouldn't sync up with my pc over dvi/hdmi, would I have known this in store? It worked fine with the samsung.
I'm just helping other people get better open-box items, i'm sure they wont complain as much as you have.

the thing that sold me on NOT even considering a toshiba is the fact they're not making them anymore :o

My first post, but figured i'd share. I know everyone has their own opinion, these are mine =p

this past weekend I went through 5 tv's!!!

Thanks for helping the price of TV's stay high. Instead of diligently reading reviews and taking your time with the display models you irresponsibly go through several buys. Now the BM store has to take a loss on several used televisions. Those losses will undoubtedly get handed down to the customers
If I were the salesperson I would be telling you to take a hike.
I am planning on purchasing one of the new Sony 70' XBR5's but not until I have a great understanding of its pro's/con's by reading reviews when they are available.

anything to help the market out. considering the only tv circuit city has a small profit margin on is the panasonic plasma, i wont loose any sleep over it. the panasonic was also sold as a new item. I bet the new owner will be happy.

I DID my research, I didn't expect such crappy results haha.

Ridiculous stance. You, along with all the other excessive return customers, are causing retailers to tighten the reigns on return policies. This does not do anything but hurt consumers. I'm sure you guys will still find a way to do your research at home and return the item tomorrow. The ones it will really hurt are the ones who got a defective tv that breaks on day 35, and the chain reduced their return policy from 90 to 30 days so now they have to put it in the shop.

Plasma and LCD's are comparable technologies as well (i.e. flat panel) but we don't mix the terms. Research is your friend, someone has already done this homework for you. Just use the search button.

Don't waste your time with this guy. If he had really done his research, half of his complaints above he'd either know about or realize he was limited the way he thought he was. I guarantee you he could not make an informed opinion in the amount of time he actually owned each set.

It's not worth preaching to him. He's not listening.

Not informed? I tested every tv with SD, 1080p via my computer, regular dvd via components, upconverted 1080i, ota hd of various res'. I tested them with florescent lights, ambient lighting and natural lighting and no lighting. using several diff medias. I think that's plenty of testing. Yes, i'm picky, but when you go in these xxx vs xxx threads, there is a clear bias in most cases. Mitsu turns out to be one of the cheapest tv's on the market right now, i'm not a brand whore.
I did my research as in which models to avoid, what problems are most prominent with each tv and which tv's didn't do what. Look at the reviews on this forum, you'll find your extremes for love and extremes for hate. Hell, you'll find the lust reviews about how they loved it and a month later hate it.
I'd rather go through 4 tv's which didn't satisfy me than deal with having 1 tv I absolutely hate. much like highschool marriages haha.

I don't care about any of that, the point is you, and others like you, are making it harder for the rest of us to return products for legitmate reasons such as a tv breaking in the first month of ownership.

I've gone through 2 Mitsubishi 734 series TV's due to noise coming from the back of the TV. I now have a Samsung which IMO has a much better HD picture then the Mits. There SD capabilities are about the same with no clear winner.

If your going to go with the Mits get if from HHGregg it's a better model then the one sold at CC. Not sure if CC has the newer series sets out yet but I'm guessing you had Y57 model which is last years model. If not it's going to be a YXX for this years model and missing features the 734 series has that is sold at HHGregg.

Good luck with your Mitsubishi and I hope you have better luck with them then I did.

anyways, i bet you want to know why I tried dlps and the plasma's? this is going in my basement, so radiant light isn't too big of a deal for me. the plasma's were just overkill! way too much light, but it's nice to have something small AND future room proof... dlp's still win for my situation.

It does not matter what you purchase because you are going to find some lame excuse to return it just days before the warrany runs out.

This clown must have a lot of free time on his hands! All the ridiculous things he complains about could have been figured out in the store, before the 1st purchase, if he did his last step first by doing side by side viewing.

A little reading in advance would have helped too.

Most ridiculous was the return for "missing features", are you kidding me, hello that's not a reason to return, it's a reason not buy in the 1st place! Dah!!!
