I purchase a Samsung Hl-T6176S direct from Amazon, not an Amazon merchant but direct from Amazon.
I even confirmed before I bought that the Tv is returnable in the event of trouble in the 1st 30 days.
Well about 20 minutes after the delivery guys leave, the TV up and dies flat out. Not to mention the bowing picture, what a piece of junk, but I digress...anyway, I'm trying to work with Amazon on getting a refund so I can go get the new Sony next month and it is turning into a real hassle. They keep telling me to call Samsung. IMO that's ridiculous, the Amazon policy clearly did not exclude TVs and now they're busting my chops about a dead tv they sold me.
Has anyone else had experience with Amazon in dealing with such issues and how did you resolve it?
Thanks!

Makes me wonder if they are treating it as a warranty issue rather than a return issue.
Did you send them an email telling them the tv was defective out of the box and you want to return it? Just insist on the return and be sure to notify your credit card company that you are disputing the charge due to defective merchandise received. Be sure to mention the disputed charge notification to Amazon CS.
I have returned many items to Amazon without problem as long as they understand it was broken on receipt. For defective merchandise, they pay return shipping. For an item you just don't like, you pay. That's why I mentioned be sure they know it was broken.

Amazon has been awesome to me too. A package wasn't delivered to my address - UPS tracking said it was delivered but it's not at the front door. Emailed amazon and 10 mins later, I got a reply saying they placed another order free of charge for next day shipping. I say that's the best customer service I've seen.
YMMV

Mes, thank you! The advice worked and I finally got the response I was looking for since last Friday.
You're welcome. I knew they would come thru, they're really good to deal with.

I had nearly the same thing happen to an HLT-6187s that I ordered form them. I called the customer service line and she said they would forward me onto their 'Hardlines' department as they were the ones who deal with those things. Day later I got an email asking me to try and work with samsung directly. I called samsung and they said they could send someone out but I lived more than 50 miles from the nearest service center so it would take 15 business days to get the repair approved and find someone to send out. I told them okay but I was going to try and return it. Got back in touch with amazon ( you can only contact this department by email aparently and it usually takes a day to get a response each time) I explained my situation and they agreed to return the tv and said they would have the shipping company come pick it up. About 5 days later I got a call from the shipping place wondering why I wasn't at my home to have them pick up the TV, well I never knew when they were coming. So the next day I met them at my home and they took the tv. I didn't hear anything for about 8 days so I emailed amazon asking for a status and they said they hadn't recieved it yet and if I hadn't heard anything in the next 2 weeks to let them know and they would look into it. Then all of a sudden, like an hour later I got an email saying they got it and then in about another 20 minutes I had my refund. It was a little stressful but they actually came through. Funny thing is that almost 2 months after I had contacted Samsung about the repair, I get a call from a store about 100 miles away saying that they got a travel approval to come look at my broken TV, so I told them I already returned it and all was good. But it took almost 2 months for Samsung to even do anything about it, and amazon took about 3 weeks total to do the return.
