Hi,
We are currently getting a home theater setup, but we need to choose a projector to get.

Ideally a 1080p would be the one to get since its a higher quality (we will be using ps3 for blueray, and HD Direct TV--I am not sure what that projects in). The screen is 106-109 inches. I am not entirely sure off hand.

Anyways, would it be in my best interest to get a 1080p projector now or wait until there are more options/cheaper price?

The person at the store was thinking maybe we should get a 1080i now and upgrade to 1080p when more things will be compatable with it--he was saying this bc he claimed 1080i was currently much cheaper than 1080p.

Also, if I went with getting a "i" now, and a "p" later...how hard would it to upgrade?

Would it be as simple as unplugging the old unit and replacing with a new one, or would there be some calibrations and other things that go along with it (overall, would it be too hard for a lay man?).

Thanks!

I wasn't actually shopping at best buy...but I guess that doesn't matter.

Do you think 1080p is worth it at the moment? Or would even a 720p be better?

Thanks for the clear up!

I actually first posted this in the rear projection forums (since the projector is gonna be from behind us, I thought that was right).

I had no idea what CRT was, but I saw projector, so I figured it was that one!

I guess you really do learn something new everyday!
