Hey guys. I just got my power run to the spot where my Sanyo Z5 is going to reside on my ceiling and have a few cable questions. I just got my new HD DirecTV receiver today and confirmed that it has a HDMI port. I have a Sony DVP CX995V 400 disc DVD changer that has composite as well as a HDMI out port. I am going to be getting a PS3 soon to watch BluRay on hopefully. One of my problems is my AV receiver is an older Sony STR DE945 and it has just the RCA inputs on it but i am looking at replacing it with a newer Sony with full HDMI soon. I need some assistance on which cableing i need to run out of my PJ because once i get all of it installed i have to fix a few drywall spots and i dont want to have to tear back into it later to reinstall different cables. I really need some assistance in what to order so i can get this all to come together, i have been looking at monoprice.com and they seem reputable around here as well. Should i run two stretches of HDMI off of the PJ to cover the PS3 installation later? Should i also run component out of it as well? I really need some guidance on this and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks alot
Nate

If possible, run some conduit from your source location to the pj spot behind the drywall, and leave a fish line in place in case you decide to run something else to it.

2 HDMI runs would be good, along with at least one component. You can always add an HDMI switch at your source end - Monoprice has a very good one for cheap.

I am going to run 2 HDMI cables as well as a set of components to have all of the bases covered. I ordered the cables from monoprice tonight.

Good to hear - and Speqtre had a great idea with the conduit

I got it up tonight and am tested it with a 6' section of HDMI and it looks nice but i can tell i need to adjust a few of the settings to sharpen it up a bit. Did you adjust alot of your settings when you installed yours? I remember a thread where someone posted exactly the numebers that they adjusted to but i cant seem to find it.

Yeah, I had to do a little - I think if you look on one of your other posts someone
gave you the link to "The Sanyo Z5 Tweeks Thread"
BTW are you using the focus ring to get the pic sharp and focused?
If you can test it with Jay Leno that show comes out real nice - at least on
cable it does. You will also notice that some HD channels are better than others

I'm lazy - no tweaking other than zoom and focus. I'm just enjoying the hell outta my PJ. HTPC, Wii, HD-DVD, and FIOS HD.

I feel very, very fortunate to have the Z5 as my first PJ!

We ran 1.5 inch conduit with a cheap speaker wire inside for a pull. I hope to never use it, but it's there if needed.

I totally agree with you Speqtre - I think the Z5 is a perfect 1st PJ. I knew nothing about
PJs and it took me about 10 minutes to set up.
