I've been contemplating better tracking my CD/DVD-A/SACD collection of late and was wondering if anyone had a recommendation of a good music database that covered CD, DVD-A & SACD and was easy to use.
Something akin to what sa-cd.net offers, but with more sorting/report options would be optimal. Is there something pre-existing that's easy to use and relatively complete? Or should I just do something on my own in Excel or Access?
Thanks for any tips/suggestions...

I am looking for these kind of program too, it's a nightmare to sort my classical music collection. Sometimes I want to pull up music by genre, sometimes composer, conductor, or soloist.
I don't like iTunes btw. :p

This may be sacrilege, but I use Windows Media Player. Most of my CD collection has been ripped to my hard drives as WMA Lossless. After a bit of editing, and creating Playlists and Auto Playlists, things work great. Right now, I'm listening to my 1960's Auto Playlist.
But... doesn't help you much on the SACD, DVD-A collections.

Try www.burnworld.com. They have software that they say can convert DVD-audio files into mp3,WAV, and other files.
I use their Audio DVD Creator software to make 640 kb/s 5.1 DD files on DVD. It is pretty neat as I have a JVC DVD player in my car that decodes DD in 5.1. It has allowed me to put, for instance, my complete Steely Dan and Donald Fagen/Walter Becker solo collection on one DVD at 640 kb/s. About 20 high resolution albums can fit on one DVD.
I use CATraxx to organize my music collection. You can download a trial version at:

Pretty powerful for sorting, printing reports, etc.

I know most are PC users but if you have a Mac, you could try CDpedia and use a custom field for SACD and DVD-A's.
