Hello AVS family, I am in the market for PJ. My room is 15 x 21 with a 100" screen. I am leaning towards an Epson Cinema 550, not sure if this would be a wise buy our not. I would love to go 1080 but that is not in the budget at this time. Trying to say under $1,700 for the PJ.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

How far is the projector from the screen? Do you need LCD for lens shift or because you see DLP rainbows? A more recent model the Epson 400 is only $900 after rebate.

The projector will sit about 16' from the screen. No shifting or rainbows yet, nothing has been set up. trying to design the room and get the equipment. The Epson 400 you say is about 900 after rebate but is that a good projector. I just want to make sure I get the right PJ.

How about a Sanyo Z5 for about 200 more than Epson - Super sharp pic, easy set-up,
very quiet and hardly no SDE. I think its a great 1st PJ.
