I'm looking for a thread I saw a while back on a custom home made mount that used a pipe, some plexiglass, with spring loaded screws to adjust the angle. Does that sound familiar to anyone? I've searched and searched, but can't find it. I want to say It was by MonkeyMan, but I've searched that name and found nothing.
I need to put together a very inexpensive mount for my new Mitsu and I'm tired of waiting for the monoprice mount to come off of backorder. Going into an unfinished basement, so looks not critical. I just need something that works.
Thanks

I used the same basic plans for my 4805 mount but could not find metal flanges that were large enough nor plexiglass that was thick enough. So, I used 2" PVC pipe which is plenty strong enough after glueing with PVC cement and a few short screws through the flange into the pipe (once mounted to the support 2x8 with bolts through a second PVC flange, I was able to hang from it with no problem, so if it will support 200lbs, it will support a projector). I think the 2" PVC pipe looks cleaner and neater than the steel or iron pipes, plus it's big enough that I could run my DVI, component, S-Video and power cables through it. I cut out a hole in the plexiglass and the cables come out the PVC pipe between the projector and the plexiglass and run to the back of the projector, looking much tidier than Monkey_Man's setup. For the plexiglass, I ended up buying two 8"x10"x1/8" plexiglass sheets, bolted them together through the middle with the flange bolts, trimmed the corners round with a coping saw and melted the corners together with a torch. It looks nice and the two sheets together are strong enough to hold my 4805 without flexing much. Make sure you are perfectly square to the screen before you mount the top flange, though.
