I've had my Sony G-90 for 6 years. It was new when I got it and it always had a tendency to occasionally flash/jump/blink when there was an extremely large and quick change in scene brightness - ie: explosions at night. This was mainly on DVD's at 480p (progressive DVD player's were the hot new and expensive thing in February 2001). My B&K receiver had 2 component inputs. One was my satellite at 1080i and the other was the Sony ES9000 DVD player. My installer researched this and determined that the input on the G-90 was not suppose to work with 480p, only 1080i or 720p. His solution was an additional 480/576p input board. After this was installed the problem seemed much better and only very rarely would it occur. It was practically non-existent on the 1080i satellite feed. However, it seems to be getting worse and much more frequent. It is now common even with 1080i component video feeds: Satellite, D-VHS, and HD-DVD/Blueray. Has anyone else had this problem, or have any idea what causes it ? Thanks - PK :(

I had a similar problem that I was able to eiliminate by changing the "Input" settings. Unfortunately, however, these settings don't apply to the component video input, only the RGB. See this thread:

Good luck.
