Hey guys.... I got some long cable my dealer gave me for my subs. Its Gepco VPM2000 and I pulled the connector off running it through my walls. What do you guys suggest to use for a connecter and where to get it. I would want some decent quality and I guess some kind of a crimp tool.
Thanks!

It probably had an 'F' connector on it. The type you use to connect an antenna or cable to a TV. You can get 'F' connectors at any Radio Shack or other electronics store that don't require any special tools. You can also find 'F-to-RCA' adaptors to connect it to the sub's low level input. An alternative is to find RCA for coax connectors. Search the web.

It may also have been a BNC connector. These are a bit more difficult, but you can find ones that are tooless. You can also find BNC-to-RCA adaptors.

The easiest thing to do is cut off both ends and find RCA for coax connectors. Or get F connectors and F-to-RCA adaptors.

No specific manufacturer. I look for the simplest to install and of course ones that fit the cable. I would take a piece of the wire down to Radio Shack or similar type store.

A BNC connector is used for coax cable in audio and computer applications. It is similar to an F connector except it uses a pin on the center conductor (an F uses the wire itself) and it has a 1/4 turn locking ring (an F uses a threaded ring)

Thanks Ransac... I believe mine was a BNC cable since it had a small pin on the end. I want real good quality... any other suggestions besides Radio Shack?

Why don't you just put a RCA compression connector on it? That eliminates any adapters.

Something like this (http://www.extron.com/product/product.aspx?id=rcamalegoldcomp&subtype=153).

Since you already cut one end off, why not cut the other end off and do something like whoaru99 showed. I would still take a piece of the wire to RS and see what they have. RS has some very good connectors. Even if you don't buy one of theirs, you will have a better idea of what you're looking for.

You are looking a low level audio connections here. It's not high current or UHF frequencies. Simple connectors will do just fine.

Check at Parts Express - although probably will have to buy the RCA connectors separately. The kits usually come with F connectors from what I've seen.

I have a datashark compression tool I use for coaxil F connecters. Will that work on this or will I need another tool?
