I am looking to install speakers in a bedroom with a vaulted ceiling. I would mount the speakers 10' or so from the floor. My problem is finding a way to direct them more towards the floor/listening area. I have come across the mounting brackets but I believe it will put the speakers too far from the wall. I have also looked at the outdoor speakers that have a different type of bracket but I don't know if I really want a speaker hanging off the wall (hence my first concern.) I know Bose has small cubes but I have never been a fan of the sound that they produce. I know I've seen in wall speakers that have an adjustable tweeter and even a way to direct the whole speaker towards the listening area but I can not find them now (or maybe I am not looking at the right brands). I think it is something that is not a flush mount but rather has a trim kit that holds the top of the speaker off the wall a little.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Lots of companies make angled in-ceiling speakers. Check out Niles Audio, Proficient Audio, Sonance, Speakercraft.

in-wall speakers can work nicely in a bedroom (I have them myself, prewired during construction), but they were not mounted as high as you mention. With the flat grill most in-walls have, there would be no need to mount them at 10'. Both MCM Electronics and Parts-Express have excellent lower cost in-walls (including subs) and in-ceilings. If you want smaller on-wall units, take a look at the Mirage line on Omnisat speakers

Thank you both for your responses. I am mounting so high due to the room dimensions (10' x 16') and the color of the room (a darker blue.) I think that they would look goofy if they were at eye level because of the contrast in color. In ceiling speakers would be ideal, but I'm not going to take out the ceiling to put them in.
The more I think about it, cubes may be a good solution. It would enable me to direct sound towards the listening level without becoming too intrusive. I knew there were others than Bose out there, I am just 600 miles away from my notes and could not think of them. I wanted to listen to possible solutions before I head back to that house.
Thank you for your responses. I did search for a while and everything I found did not satisfy what I was looking for. Your answers have pushed me towards the right direction. (Hopefully!)

Instead of Bose, consider Orb speakers.
