I have and IN72 and very happy with it. I'm getting the bug to upgrade and was leaning towards the HD1000u. I had a few questions:

1) How does the noise compares between the two pj's in whisper (low) modes?

2) From what I can tell it seems that the Mitsu is the brighter of the two projectors. But, once calibrated is the HD1000u brighter in whisper (low) mode than in72 is in high mode?

3) How does the fan noise of the Mits compare when in high mode? Is it louder, the same, or quieter than the in72 in high mode?

Thanks,

-Jim

Can't answer the comparison questions but as an owner of the HD1000 for almost six months now I can tell you it is a great projector!

I have it mounted on a 8' ceiling and in low light mode I don't notice the fan. If the audio is not on you can hear it but it is not obtrusive and with audio I don't notice it at all.

The fan on high light mode is considerably louder but even then with the audio turned anywhere near normal it is not distracting. I only use the high light mode for football games where I want the lights up a bit as people mill in and out of the HT and are eating food.

PJC measured the IN72 as 625 lumens in high mode. They also said the Mits can do 620 in low mode in Cinema setting with a few points in brilliant color.
