I will be purchasing a Sony VPL-VW50 shortly and was wondering if you can give me some recommendations on the best mounting kits out there. The Sony PSS-610- is a bit expensive.... Thank you in advance... :)

You could use the Chief RPA-U, or the RPA-020 is the specific Pearl mounting kit. You might also need a ceiling mount and a drop pole if you need to drop the projector down a bit.

I went with the Chief Elite mount for our Pearl with the specific plate for the Pearl. I bought it from AVS. Outstanding mount, tremendous flexability; easy to mount and set up. Go with the Chief, you won't go wrong. :)

I figured I could use this thread instead of making my own, since my question is similar with the same projector.

I need to know if there is anything where I can adjust the projector away/towards the screen. When I made all my calculations and mounted the projector, I can't get the projector far enough away from the screen. I don't really want to rip out the box I flush mounted into the ceiling (A lot of sheetrock work). Please tell me there is some sort of adapter I could buy. Thanks.

If you use a Chief mount, you can buy the XY1 adapter to slide the projector back and forth or sideways by 2". You could probably also use the LSB100, which is designed to move the projector 3" sideways, but if you mounted it on the pole in a front/back orientation, you could probably use it to slide the projector back 3".

As a last resort, if the projector is mounted using 1 1/2" threaded pipe, you could always use two 90" elbows and some threaded pipe sections to create a horizontal "Z" mounting. It won't look pretty, but should get the job done.

Thanks for the reply.:)

My projector uses Pearl specific Chief mount, no pole. I need the LSB-100 but with front to back adjustments. Do you think I could modify that one to go front to back instead of side to side?

After looking at it again, I'm not sure you could. It depends on how the mounting holes are done, and whether you can attach the projector mounting plate to it for a N/S instead of E/W adjustment. If 2" of adjustment is enough, the XY1 adapter clearly will work, though you might have to use a very short piece of pipe (say 1" between threads) to hook it all together. If 2" isn't enough, the only option I see is to use short pieces of pipe with elbows to move the mounting position back. You could also just call Chief and ask them.

How much adjustment do you need?

I'm not really sure. I have maybe 1.5" on each side, and 1" top and bottom. I guess I could call Chief, but you guys probably know more about their product than they do.:D
