Tom Danley always said how useful fire/flame was at visualizing sound. I have to say this gives me a cool idea for a flame-based RTA... :D
Enjoy!

Pretty cool :). The new "it" accessory that every AV enthusiast will have to get.
Great new tool. So all I have to do to get better visuals of where standing waves exist in my HT is to start some slow sweeps and then set the room on fire. Where ever the flames are suppressed, there are standing waves and I should avoid placing the LP there. Cool. :D

My professor in college did this test, but had like an 8 foot tube- lower frequencies. It's quite amazing to see it in person, as you sweep frequencies, it gets all jumbled, then a nice shape when you get the right frequencies.

OK brave souls, I just posted a whole set of Tesla links, including a HUGE audio-modulated Tesla coil to my monthly rant at the BAS, here:

There are a few totally cool videos and the Aussie site is over the top.
Perhaps we could inject puffs of rare-earth powders into the spark gap and create a truly modern color organ as a terrific adjunct to any 2-channel audiophile system...
