Hey guys,

Sorry to make another "which one is better" thread but I've searched quite a bit and can't find a decent anwser. I'm looking at buying a sub for 100% HT use and seem to have narrowed it down to the eD subs (really like the HSU but don't think the price premium is worth it looking nicer). I noticed on the eD site the A2-300 and A3-250 are the same price... any reason to get one over the other for HT use?

I would really suggest the a2-300 for dedicated HT, especially if space isn't an issue.

More output, and very noticable difference down low.

I just ordered the A2-300 so i cant comment on it other than the spec sheet looks impressive and the user feeback is quite good, cant wait to get mine!

Unless you got a small room, the A2-300 should fill up your mid to large size room very well.

A2-300 for total output and extension.

A3-250 if you need a smaller sized box although its a little deeper, it's not as high or wide.

Lets just say it has something to do with a human Organ!

I agree, I have a space limitation so I went with the A3-250. I listen about 70/30 HD/Music and I am very happy. My entire room shakes at 25 Hz and up with the volume up only 40% of the way. I tried an 18 Hz test tone and I could still feel the floor rumble.

I just bought the A3-300 and am very happy. It shakes the house in a very precise way :)

I'm resurrecting an old thread but I have a similar question. I've pretty much decided on an eD package:

Fronts: 6t6 Towers
Center: 6t6 mtm
Rears: Keeping my old Bose 301s that were half price for students

I'm just a little torn on the sub. I'm leaning towards the A3-300, but I'm wondering if I really will need it or if it will be overpowering.
I'm also considering the:
A3-250
A2-300
A2-250
The email response from eD said I'd probably be fine with the A2-250, but that was back when the rest of my system was going to consist of the 301s as fronts, a 5t5 as a center, and 5tcs as rears/surrounds. Since then I decided to go 5.1 instead of 7.1 and get better speakers. I'm open to a bigger sub if it will improve my experience but I think I should be fine with the A3-300.

For context the room I'm in now is carpeted ~15x15 not included an entryway area, opening to the kitchen, and a small hallway. My ceiling is maybe 8-9'. I will probably use the system for 50/30/20 movies/games(often music games)/music.

I don't mean to thread jack -- but I have a very similar question for all the sub gurus out there (this is my post in the eD Sub owners thread):

Ok guys -- after a lot of reading -- I am about to jump on the eD bandwagon (errr ... waiting list). Here is my setup:

TV: Samsung HL-S6188w (61" 1080p DLP)
A/V: Denon 2807 (110w/ch -- 5.1 config -- I use it as a two room as it drives my outdoor pool speakers as well, so no 7.1)
Sources: Dish Vip622 HD-DVR, Tosh HD-A2, Wii, Xbox 360.

Current speaks:
Fronts: Klipsch SF-1s (budget, entry level line)
Center: Klipsch SC-1
Rears: B&W SOLIDs (already hard mounted -- not planning changing these right now)
Sub: Klipsch SW10 (10" driver - 150w powered)

This is my main living room setup -- the room is about 28 x 26 with a vaulted ceiling that is 10' tall at its lowest and close to 30' at its highest. Currently carpeted -- it opens to the main entry way and also to a loft upstairs. I am considering doing hardwoods here -- but not at all sure.

The Klipsch speaks are all from my first A/V system (purchased in 1999 when I purchased my first DVD player -- for $400 ) when I had an apartment, and they will be relegated to the basement gaming room along with the 360.

I am planning on ordering the following from Elemental Designs:

Fronts: A6-6T6-Towers
Center: A6-6T6-MTM
Sub: A3-300 or A5-350 (can't decide - need help)

What are people's thoughts on the sub. Is the A5 worth the extra $$$?? I was trying to keep the cost about $1000 (with the A3 it will be about $950 with the A5, closer to $1100). The A5 puts me over slightly. I am not looking to melt my ears or shatter the subfloor (or -- more likely -- impart a lot of vibration to my HD-A2 and other equipment as it is playing). But Alex @ eD (who I spoke to on the phone) suggested that a room the size of mine needs more base than the A3-300 can deliver. To me 300w and a 12" driver sounds huge compared to what I have now. This review of the older A5-300 (which sounds a lot like the current A3-300) makes it seem like the A3 will deliver a lot of bass.

Anyone what to offer any opinions? Anyone have experience with the two different subs?

My main use is HT (scifi and action films), some music (played off Sirius or Ipod) and gaming.

Thanks!!
