Anyone have stories of digital projectors that suffered damage, drops, hilarious accidents and kept working?

I don't. Well...my IN72 slipped out of the black box ends when I was removing it and dropped about about a foot onto plush carpet. The little grey Infocus fan cover came off at one end but nothing major.

Just curious to know how much of a beating these things have taken.

I've read some pretty funny stories of 100lb+ CRTs fallin during ceiling installs with no problems afterwards.

I have a portable Optoma DV10 all-in-one that has been taken all over the place. Although it hasn't suffered any significant falls, it has been manhandled by a few kids from time to time. It used to make my heart stop a beat, but now I don't even think twice; it just keeps going and going and going...

I have a Panny 711xu that has moved with my household 4 times, gone on loan to my brother (for UFC parties) and parents (Wii parties) several times, and currently has approx 3300 hours on the original bulb. And it's still going strong, with zero problems other than those it started with (low contrast).

Ok, so it hasn't been dropped that I know of, but in the approx 4-5 years that I've owned it, I think I've cleaned the filter a grand total of three times  . How's that for durable?

I am such a bad person.....

You don't hear about issues with Panasonic much compared to other brands.

although the ax-100 has gotten several reports of quality control problems on this board.

Yeah, the anecdotal evidence on this board has successfully scared me away from the AX100, despite my excellent results with my first Panny. If the 711 died today, I'd probably get an Epson 400 or BenQ W500. DW has already approved another projector, got her hooked on the big picture :D

Judging by my experiences with my 4805, I'd have to put Infocus toward the bottom of the pile. In the two years I've owned it, I had to send it in for warranty repairs twice, once for being completely dead and not powering up, the second time for a screaming fan and a bad light tube. It also burnt out my bulb after only around 1200 hours. I'm looking forward to leaving it in my current house for whoever buys it and gettting a new Benq W500 for my new house next month.
