hi,
i'm new to this forum, please dont flame if this is the wrong thread.

i was looking to buy a LCD and have scaled down to either Sony or Samsung based on different posting in different sections here at AVS. What is Samsung's equivalent of Sony's XBR series?
Is samsung coming up with the 10-bit thingie just like Sony XBR4/5 models (de in august) ?

This year Samsung, if I am not mistaken, has 4 series:

The 42H series, which is entry-level
The 53H series, which has a few more features (like better CR)
The 61f series, which is the step-up model with better CR and a "dull" screen
The 65f series, which is probably the top-of-the-line series, with a "shiny" screen and crazy CR.

Since XBR is Sony's top of the line series, I guess you could compare those to the 61f and 65f Samsung models.

The Samsung model that will be most comparible to the XBR4/5's IMO will be the 71 series which is also due in August.
I know engadget says the 81 series will have 10-bit processing but that is the LED LCD and is in a different league/catagory.

From what I have read on the cnet reviews the 61f and 65f models already have 10-bits processing.
