Thanks to this forum, I purchased this SVS sub for my rather large family room / HT.

The room is 25x60, with 10 foot high walls and vaulted ceilings from there. The structure is raised foundation, with hardwood floors.

The first time I fired the subwoofer up I put in a HD DVD. My wife was outside sitting by the pool. At the beginning, the Dolby THX demo thing plays. As it finished with that big bang at the end, the entire room was energized! No problem with getting enough base in the room at all!

It was so powerful, the wife came running in, yelling OH MY GOD! WHAT EXPLODED?! THE POOL DECK IS SHAKING! (The deck is 4 inch thick concrete!)

Funnny thing, I only had the sub at about 40% power, MUAHAHAHAHHA!

Thanks everyone for pointing me to SVS, and thanks SVS for an incredible sub for a great price.

Congratulations on your new sub. That is a fine sub. Put in WOTW to really see what you were missing.

I have the same PB12 Plus 2 sub. It is indeed awesome. I just have to equalize it as it is a bit boomy. Great in my 20 X 30 room.
My problem is that my Wife loves the piano gloss finish and I mistakenly got a glass top for it. She uses it as and end table and it is filled with her stuff. I mean how much cosmetics can a woman have?

Prediction: OP loves it for the first 6months, likes it for 6 more and starts thinking about adding a 2nd PB12+2 after that!

I need to get the order for my 2nd Pb12+2 in shortly :)

SVS PB12-PLus/2 arrived on thursday.

No chance of stealthing it into the house and down the stairs to the theater to surprise everyone.!

We started watching Mission Impossible III last night and after a while my wife leans over, smiles and says the new 'toy' is working as we watch our drinks 'walk' themselves off the table and onto the floor.

I am looking forward to spending a bit of time setting it up, but the initial impression is WOW. We had a pair of polk subs which we removed (polk 505 and 404) this morning, which were nice but...

Thanks to SVS tech support for their recommendation based on the room specs we sent them.

Hi Guys!

Thanks for all the comments.

We're still loving it. I forgot to post that I used the "it's better to ask forgiveness than permission" strategy when I installed it. The first time the wife saw it, she was pretty pissed off. LOL!. But she has settled down now. Also, the "explosion" incident has now achieved urban legend status in my house, with the wife and kids rountinely commenting during a movies with a lot of bass "remember when you first pluged it on and the house exploded!" They recount the story to all of their friends!

Thanks for the tip on WOTW, I just happen to have it on regular DVD and we haven't even opened it yet. I'll be back with a report after we watch it.

Several great scenes for LFE, Craig... I beleive the DVD has both the DD and DTS versions on them. The DTS version is great. Most viewers talk about the major effect scene, (lighting strikes and pod emerging from underground), but the movie has a lot of other scenes that will task a sub fairly well, both in the LFE ranges and the LFR ranges. The movie itself was "mediocre" IMO but the sound effects will fairly effectively rock your house.

Transformers, when it does come out on DVD, however (and hopefully will be engineered at least on DD THX or DTS) will be an all out assault on the senses that will surpass WOTW as a reference DVD, IMO....

Interesting that you posted that. This down-firing sub definately energizes the entire floor, and it resonates with the bass, like a drum. While that is cool, especially at first, I bet it is muddying the sound. I put this system in a new kitchen/family room with a ton of new granite counters, so I'll check with the contractor and see about aquiring a scrap of granite. Stay tuned....

I found that setting up the SVS PB12+2 this way improved the sound of the sub . (after sealing the holes with the screws that attatched the bottom plate) The subs seemed to be less muddy sounding and have much more of a punch to it .

The room is 14' X 19' with 7' ceiling . The room ahs been taking quit a transfermation to . Gone is the wallpaper and that paneled corner . I have painted the ceiling dark and have drapes along fron wall with projection screen . The room is still in progress I need to hang drywall on one wall yet and then paint . And add room treatments .

These subs are so much fun . :D

Start it on Chapter 24 (Darla scene is Chapter 25) and turn it up! You will know what scene it is once its played. ;)
