i have a sanyo plv-z1 that i bought a few years ago, used, and at the time it was a few years old. The bulb had never been changed and hasn't been since I have owned it.

I have noticed some problems with the projector over the past maybe 6 months:
it has a greenish tint
and the colors appear faded

could this be due to the fact that the bulb is wearing down, do you think i need a new bulb?

also, what i believe is unrelated, after maybe about 45 minutes of use, sometimes the projector just shuts down (this is a much more recent problem). it is like a fuse blows inside and i can't turn it on for like 30 minutes to 24 hours. this is an other problem.

what do you think is wrong?

Not an expert but here's my opinion. I think you need a new bulb. Bulbs tend to loose brightness over time and will color shift. Bulbs also begin to emit high levels of ultra-violet light towards the end of their life. The UV will tend to stain the optical filters causing large areas of very bad color. Bulb projectors have timers in them used to monitor the lamp hours. You should change the lamps at the recommended intervals whether the lamp still works or not to avoid the issues you are experiencing. The projector is probably turning itself off because it's sensing improper lamp current.

By the way, this is the CRT forum. You should post your question in the proper forum. If you want a avoid the issues associated with bulb projectors and view superior image quality, you should get a CRT projector.

I also think you should post in the proper area.

But, your projector is an LCD projector and they have MANY problems including the LCD panels going bad. Your green tint could be this if you can't adjust it out.

Person99 is right. Part of this will be the bulb, but the LCD display generally fades and goes green over time due to heat. It's not worth repairing. All of these units are designed to be disposable. If it's more than 5 years old, it's reached the end of it's useful life.
