Cliff Digital2004 07-21-07, 11:16 AM well, i like the look of an IMAX theater :D mega high stadium, gigantic screen. yet i don't like watching a scope film on such a screen perhaps sophisticated masking system could create a nice combination. high ceiling is compulsory of course. a 4M wide scope/IMAX (masking screen) (and curved :D ) would require something like 4/1.37 + 2x50cm (top bottom)= 3.91m ceiling heightCould allow say 4 rows of 0 50 100 150cm heights (IMAX stadium). It could be a problem for the projector v shift though if the scope format is centered in IMAX format screen. Not for a basement given the ceiling height. more like an annex to the house. CINERAMAX 07-21-07, 11:24 AM Back when PJ aspect ratios were 3x4 HOMEIMAX was my original scren name here. I literaly got a cease and desist letter. Art This projector if like the Runco is 87FL?????    I'd have to wear sunscreen!!!!!!!!!! :D Cliff juzmister 07-23-07, 04:52 AM My friend has that projector; it's in a really big room though... Art Sonneborn 07-23-07, 12:44 PM This projector if like the Runco is 87FL?????    I'd have to wear sunscreen!!!!!!!!!! :D Cliff Runco uses their own system of quoting fL on I think it's a 100" screen. You have to then convert to lumens to get what it would be on a 252" screen like Wolfgang has. Art DanFrancis 07-23-07, 04:06 PM The Runco CSMS uses a 6 foot wide 1.78:1 screen (Stewart Studiotek 130) in a black hole (think Darrin's room). Which is why the SC-1 had a rating of something like 250 ftL; REALLY BIG PROJECTOR, REALLY SMALL SCREEN! I assume at the request of Runco Christie is using aperture plates. http://cineramax.com/images/Odyssey_Mods.jpg That will be the next gen TOL Runco. Nanaki_ 07-31-07, 09:26 AM Just asking......why ? Wolfgang has the largest screen on the forum at about 20' wide but it is 2.35:1. Art Can you link me to threads about his setup? That's massive. Art Sonneborn 07-31-07, 10:57 AM http://www.studiodaily.com/hdstudio/searchlist/8278.html I can't locate a picture of his screen although it had his wife and daughter standing in front of it. Art iansilv 07-31-07, 01:57 PM Is that the pic with the shot of star wars in the back ground, na dit is floor to ceiling 2.35? Art Sonneborn 07-31-07, 02:16 PM Is that the pic with the shot of star wars in the back ground, na dit is floor to ceiling 2.35? That's the one ! I've never seen another picture of the front of the room except some during construction. Art CINERAMAX 08-01-07, 09:42 PM It must be the height of the room. The screen is only 171"wide. http://cineramax.com/images/New-Projection-Porthole.jpg http://cineramax.com/images/Projection_porthole.jpg Porthole detail http://cineramax.com/images/ProjectorNest.jpg Projector nest http://cineramax.com/images/ProjectorShelf.jpg Projector shelf http://cineramax.com/images/ProjectorShelfRear.jpg Pj Shelf Rear http://cineramax.com/images/ViewFromPorthole.jpg View through porthole http://cineramax.com/images/Helene-Front-Dimensioning.jpg Screen speaker layout http://cineramax.com/images/RackBackLocationandRotosubL.jpg Access to back of rack above rotary sub location. |
