Ok, so I'm told that 9 in cubes with 6 in cones just don't cut it. Even if I can figure out a way to do it, I still have severe space limitations, so I would need to get a sub that's absolutely no more than 12 x 12 (w x d). Any height is ok. All of the ones I found below meet that requirement and have 8 or 10 inch cones. 50/50 music/movies. Any comments are greatly appreciated.

I haven't actaully heard any of them, but I would bet that the Sunfire True Subwoofer EQ would generally outplay all the others. For it's size it probably kicks ass.

Make a DIY Sonotube since height is no issue. Drop a 10" in the bottom, port out the top and it should outperform all the subs in your list hands down...

The Sunfrie True Subwoofer EQ is a truly impressive piece of work. I demoed one at a local dealer with content I brought with me, Pulse and WOTW. I was impressed, especially since the room was much, much larger than mine. Now, this won't beat my 4x 21"s, but hey, for it's size it cannot be beat. You won't miss a note in music and you won't be missing too much in movies. If I were you, I'd get the Sunfire.
