View Full Version : Wal-Mart.com(sic) has lower prices than frys.
kmiller32906 07-22-07, 12:01 AM Frys does have their specials but have anyone everyone actually really scored on them. XXX for 12.99 is not a deal and all the good cheap ones are ALWAYS sold out. Not saying wal-mart is better but they have some cheap Blu-Rays and is very competitive with amazon for my money.
getmyrunon 07-22-07, 12:27 AM Cheapest Blu Ray I saw on Walmart.com was 14.87, and that's before tax.
What are you seeing that's so good?
kmiller32906 07-22-07, 12:30 AM That the one you saw for 14.95 was in stock. Frys has all these good titles for 11.99 or 12.99 but they are always out of stock. I only bring this up because I hear alot about how great frys is on the forum. If you know of a cheaper vendor please let me know.
dalamchops 07-22-07, 12:34 AM are you talking about online or in-store?? Fry's is 10000x better than Walmart in-store just because it has a HUGE selection and fairly priced
kmiller32906 07-22-07, 12:37 AM Online. I don't live anywhere near a frys.
Point something out online Walmart.com that's priced good. They have ship to store- no shipping charges for me, just tax.
I bet Amazon still comes in lower after the 10% discount and free shipping although that might even out a bit after Dec if they eliminate the 10% discount.
Just take the Fry's weekly sales flyer to BB and make them match it. I bought HD DVD titles that were $12 on sale this week at Fry's at the BB a mile up the street on price match. Painless to me, and it could not happen to a nicer group than BB.
Sofdec7 07-22-07, 02:12 AM I just found that one of my local Wal Marts carries Blu Ray/HDDVD and found some good prices there - most were $18.xx (including new releases) with a few for $24.xx - Frys is generally $19.99 - 24.99 so not a big increase - WalMart has had a few titles out early though (Frys has always denied the sale at the register).
kmiller32906 07-22-07, 01:59 PM How can a sign up to recieve a frys flier? Do you have to live near one and get it in the newspaper or do they have a mailing list?
buster2 07-22-07, 02:38 PM just in case anyone living in new york city or visiting .Discorama has another sale on till the end of july.%20 off all dvd's including blu ray n hd dvd.picked up four this morning at $15.99 each and one for 19.99.they are already discounted just like amazon so most titles are like $19.99 from them.again, they dont have loads but always something for someone.theyre on west 4th,just in case anyone goes downtown when they are here.
Just take the Fry's weekly sales flyer to BB and make them match it. I bought HD DVD titles that were $12 on sale this week at Fry's at the BB a mile up the street on price match. Painless to me, and it could not happen to a nicer group than BB.Since there are no Fry's in my area they won't pricematch. BB will only pricematch local retail stores, and only in-stock items.
Walmart.com has 3 BD's for $14.87 (GI Jane, King Arthur, and Haunted Mansion), 1 BD for $16.87 (Finding Neverland), most for $20 and higher. Prices are competitive with Amazon.com with possibly faster shipping for $0.97 per movie (free if ship to store).
jlangner 07-22-07, 11:27 PM They have the MI box set for $59.99. That seems a good price for 3 Blu-Ray movies.
Online that is.
yellowlt4 07-23-07, 01:13 AM I have never purchased from Wal-mart.com or Frys.com but from a local standpoint Fry's has Wal-Mart beat both in price and selection. When Fry's runs an HD or BD sale they have plenty of stock on hand. For all of my DVD needs Fry's has been a great store, from ~$25 bond sets to $15 and $20 TV sets they just beat all the local competition when it comes to great sales.
rutlian 07-23-07, 03:47 AM CC is my store got the Matrix trilogy for 21.95 with tax (hd dvd )

the49ola 07-23-07, 10:57 AM I don't know frys return policy but with none of their stores within an hour and a half drive walmart is much simpler to deal with. Plus you can't beat the free shipping to your local store or 97 cent shipping to your home. Fry's is 6 dollars for shipping plus sales tax I think.
