View Full Version : Live video streaming? Not sure where to start...

Hey all. I'm having a little trouble figuring out where to start with this. Here's what I'm hoping to do:

Stream a live video, on-site (outdoors most often), to a website of my own for secured viewing by password-based members.

I have some of the basics I think:

I'll need some type of digital camcorder, possibly an entry level HD handheld for what I'll be filming
A laptop with an S-video or component-video input for the camera to attach to and run the video into
A wireless card to upload the video to my website remotely (which could mean some type of cell service-provider if there is no network available...i.e. Verizon)

Is there anything I'm missing? Software for the laptop to upload the video as streaming/live vs. standard download? Or is there a website/service provider I need to subscribe to in order to stream live video to my website?

If anybody can help with this, it will be MOST appreciated!

Thanks!

I googled "stream live video" and got lots of hits.

Here is one at/near the top ...

Thanks Bill. I did the same thing but was hoping for some first-hand information from people I trust (i.e. AVS members). I looked at their site as well. Thanks though:)
