I have a Helio's 4000 upscaling DVD player I use here for testing projectors. It's actually my neighbors and I borrowed it after my PC developed a short in the video card's VGA port.
Anyway, I was having trouble getting a normal pic out of it using the VGA port + 5BNC breakout cable. The player outputs all kinds of rez through both VGA, component, and DVI. In VGA mods you get both Video resolutions and Computer resolutions, XGA, XSGA, etc. Well the only ones I could get to work are the computer resolutions from VGA port. These are OK but they are not ideal for Video. There was a thread last week where the OP was having the same problems so I decided to dig deeper.

in Video out mode (720P,1080i) throguh the VGA port the picture looked looked really wierd with blue people. First thing I thought was the player was outputing a YpYbYr signal throguh VGA but that didn't really make sense because all 3 tubes were at normal output. So after staring at the pic for a while I finally realized what was happening, Red and Blue were reversed. I reversed the B + R plugs on the projector so they were backwards and sure enough everything fell into place. Obviously there is a glitch in the player, R+B are backwards depending on whether you use video or computer rez. I don't know if this is a software bug but it must be since the same port is behaving differently depending on how you configure the output in the players internal menu.
I know a lot of people are using this player as it's better built than the Momitus and comes with a real remote control and a better loader. It's actually not a bad way to go for $150. but this is a glitch I want to point out to folks. If your using your player for movies and getting a wierd pic with Blue people then this is your problem. There's no danger in reversing the B+R BNC's on yuor PJ, it won't hurt anything.
Oh and BTW, if your in the market today for an upscaling player just get a Toshiba HD-A2 + HD Fury DVI converter, it will up-scale DVD's and do HD too. Well worth a few hundred extra over a Momitsu or Helio's.
