I am looking to get a couple movies from over seas that are not released here in the US. What is the best site for doing this? I see some of you guys are using ezydvd.com but their prices seem a bit steep. If there is a reputable online store that any of you guys have had luck, let me know.

I use these:

dddhouse.com (for HK BD)
ezydvd.com.au (for Australian BDs)
mediadis.com (for Belgian BD)
yesasia.com (for Japanese and Korean BDs)

Will use amazon.co.uk for (UK BDs that don't street in Australia as well)

Imports aren't cheap. EzyDVD has the overall best prices compared with the U.S. dollar so I buy from them whenever possible.

Is there a list anywhere of the Blu-ray titles currently available only by import? The HD-DVD forum has a stickied thread for import releases :(

I'd love to see this as well.

I just ordered one movie from ezydvd and I will see how it goes. How long it will take to get here and if the movie plays in my player. Thanks for the response guys.

buyoyo.com is also good for HK BDs (cheaper than DDDhouse and decent wait time)

HD-DVD does not have region coding. BD does. How do you overcome that?

Simple,

many studios do not use any region code at all. Furthermore, Japan and Korea are also region A, so no problem importing from them.

To the OP, for Japanese BDs, the best sites IMO are Amazon (for pre-orders as they have a nice discount) and HMV after the title has been released.

CDJapan is a pretty good site for Blu-Ray discs from Japan.

By the way, it pays to compare prices offered by the different sites. You could save some $$$.

Amazon.com/UK/ Good discounts, ship fast and are very reliable.

Yesasia.com/ A little pricey but it's Japan so what do you expect.

xploitedcinema.com/ They are domestic but carry alot of import titles and offer top notch service

Well I received my copy of Bruce Almighty today on BD disc from ezydvd. It is region coded with A, B, and C which means it is not region coded. Worked flawless on my ps3. Quite weird seeing the opening song and video of Universal Studios that is for sure. All and all, a great experience. I ordered it Sunday and received it on Friday. Not bad coming from Australia.

Are you in the USA? I ordered that title along with a couple others from EzyDVD. My order shipped ten days ago and still hasn't shown up. :(

Guess new customers have better luck than long standing customers. :D

Hows the PQ in general. I am curious as how it compares to the US HD DVD version. Can you snap any pics of the movie playing or back of the box while you are at it?

I can definitely do that for my fellow BD fans. I am not the best at taking pictures but I will try to give you an idea. I would say Bruce Almighty has about a 4/5 picture quality maybe a 4.5. Sound is around the same, not that the movie has any thing that could show off sound. The box is slightly thicker then a US BD. Also is a bit darker of a blue. The symbol at the top of the box is not flat, it actually pops out a bit. Looks nice. Definitely weird seeing the Universal beginning right before the movie, no doubt about that.

Thanks, there is nothing I like more than a bunch of cool pics to look at.

I beg to differ. The PQ of Bruce Almighty is a huge disappointment. If it were rated a 3 out of 5 it'd be generous. There is no HD pop whatsoever. Some scenes look decent but mostly there's a serious lack of detail throughout the majority of the film. I haven't seen the HD DVD version but based on the reviews for it I'd say the BD's got the same stinkin' transfer. :(

Sorry guys, have not taken any pictures yet. I have been on a BD spending spree that last couple of days, and I am have been watching all the movies. I will definitely get on that as soon as possible.

NYG, your right, my initial review was definitely a bit on the easy side. I would say it should get around a 3 out of 5. There is no HD pop only on some scenes. I still love the movie and it was way worth it to have the movie imported.

Yeah the disc could look better but I agree, it's still worth owning if you're a fan of the movie... as I am too. :)
