You know what Im talking about... that certain clip you play when a friend comes over and sees your setup for the first time. You dim the lights and pop that BD in. You know what chapter it is by heart and you've seen it so many times, you can replay the entire scene in your head!
Nows the time to tell everyone here what it is.
It doesnt need to be a 10 for PQ or PCM audio, its the whole package. The music, the movie, the mood, the audio and video.

Mines Casino Royale chapter 2. It starts with the pit fight between the cobra and a ferret(I think). That gives a few seconds for your guest to take in the perfect image before the chase begins. The music starts building and the second Bond starts his pursuit, that deep bass starts thumping and the action begins. With 3 great scenes starting at the fight, through a construction site with dizzying heights and ending at a shootout at the Embassy, by the time its over, your almost as exhausted as Bond himself.

Mine is also from CR - The scene when they are climbing on the crane/construction equipment. I have never gotten such a sense of height from the cinematography and the VQ. Amazing.

Another is pretty much any of POTC:DMC. Beautiful!

I'm sure I'll think of more!

My demo is from Black Hawk Down. I use the scenes beginning from when they start the mission. I usually play until they drop; no violence but great sound and video! Last two times I've demoed this my guests asked to start the movie from the beginning and watched the whole thing. The PCM 5.1 track is amazing!!

For those of my friends who can take it, mine is from Apocalypto. At the beginning, right when the hunting party meets the people running from their destroyed village, there is so much detail, and it is so crisp. I like to see if anyone can actually see where the people are hidden (you can if you look very closely).

Probably one of my fav scenes to show off on any High Def format is from Corpse Bride - Chapter#7 -Remains of the Day First i shall admit i have this on HD-DVD but they share the same codecs so no biggie. The sound of the music is rich and the 3D pop to the scene with all its colours are just amazing.


If i had to pick something live action wise i would have to go with the fan favourite movie Casino Royale My scene of choice would be the big airport scene. The action and sound is awesome and i just love the big smirk that comes off Bond when the bomb goes off.

Casino Royale with that chase scene in Morocco.

Apocalypto and that scene where the camera glides on the river then turns around and we see that massive waterfall with the protagonist looking out. It still boggles me on how they actually shot that.

A Scanner Darkly when Keanu Reeves makes a speech wearing that suit. His extreme close-ups look phenomenal (as if he's really going out the screen).

+1 for the airport scene. the part when the airplane almost lands on them is phenomenol.

IF IT WERE AUDIO, whoops stupid caps lock.,.. it would be black hawk down, opening scene when the title screen hits (freaking incredible bass) and then goes to the helicopter scene... damned f'ing incredible pcm audio. blow you away at least on my system that pushes more than 4 KW of clean continuous power. that's including my sub which is only rated at 400 watts rms. :eek:

I do like the part where the helicopters get all geared up and the Stevie Ray Vaughn song kicks in!

Mine is POTC : DMC when davey jones crew comes out of the water in search for the chest. Basically everything that happens on that island. It has lush greens, bright colors, awesome contrast and incredible detail.

Audio, i just pop in my chris botti disc and listen to theme from cinema paradiso :)

The "sacrifice" scene of Apocalypto probably has some of the best pq I've ever seen...the crowd detail is fantastic, and absolutely no edge halos no matter how hard I looked. Not sure if this is something you want to show off when grandma comes over though....
