Why won't HDDVD and Bluray join them?

Blu-ray will. ;)

Blu-ray will. ;)That isn't an answer to the question. If you think HDDVD will not go the way of DCC. Tell us why.

HD DVD will find it's way in the boneyard of failed A/V formats due to it's lack of industry support. It's a simple as that.

If HD DVD is as great as Midnight makes it out to be why aren't they outselling Blu-ray in software? They've got more standalone players yet are coming up short? I'd hardly call that a recipe for success.

Again, not an answer to the OP. Why will your preferred format survive?

I believe I made it clear, Blu-ray will succeed due to it's massive industry wide support.

Well, your post didn't say that, but LD had industry support. DiVX had industry support. Why is BD so different than them?

I don't have time to look up the support each format had but I'm confident LD didn't have nearly the industry wide support BD has. There are already several stores that carry BD that never carried LD. And DIVX, who supported them besides Disney, Fox, and Circuit City? :p

I give this thread 3 to 5 more posts after this one before it is locked down.

Yeah that's what happens when the very first reply made is a trolling comment.

Notice how its always the HDDVD folks that derail the thread

NYG's post was exactly the same. It's sad that there can't be discussions of these things.

It's sad that I provided you with an answer and you have a problem with it. That's very sad. Heaven forbid someone disagrees with you.

Simply put there is no answer to the question/riddle as they all (physical media) eventually wind up there.

Please tell me what opinion I provided for you to disagree with? Your post was an attack on the other other format. You did not give any reason why one or both formats would survive until you were challenged. That says a lot to me. Why are so many here only able to say why the other format will die and not why there's will survive?

Well . . seeing as how we are discussing this - what are you really trying to discuss?

1. Will HDM go on to be successful with 2 formats?

2. Will one of the formats die and the winner goes on to be successful?

3. Will one or both remain niche formats?

Pick one

The question I asked in the OP. Don't derail the thread. Answer it.

I said I preferred BD due to it's industry support and you bring up LD and DIVX. Also, as Lee mentioned, what exactly is the purpose of this thread? It wasn't until post 5 that you included this:
Why will your preferred format survive?

That wasn't made clear in the OP. I've never claimed to be a mind reader. ;)

The OP asked a question, and you did not answer it. I'll ask again.
Why won't HDDVD and BD wind up in the scrap pile of A/V formats?

The question is why did this thread end up in the boneyard of avs?
