Just purchased Barco Vision 1600 from a less than honest seller.
There is no standby power and of course the unit will not power up.
It also requires a Blue tube. Sony 146a I believe.
Would anyone have any parts for this unit and perhaps an idea where to start with the power problem.
Yes I have read the other forum entries describing this unit as undesirable but I was never one to follow a crowd.
Thanks

Where are you located? I have a Barco 1600 with only 1204 hours or so you can have for free if you pick it up. It also needs a blue tube but at least it works otherwise..They do use Sony SD146a tubes and the 1600 is famous for eating them.
The tube when they fail go shorted so the 1600 will not fully power up unless you unhook it....

Thanks for responding Dave.
I am in Newcastle Australia. A bit of a long drive.
Perhaps it could be dismantled and sent that way as I would not need the casing or lenses. I would of course pay for postage. Food for thought.
I have disconnected the tube but there is no standby power and it will not power up when you press the main switch, somewhere very early in the circuit something has failed. I understand there is a standby transformer that goes out although I dont know where to look for that as I dont have any circuit diagrams. I am also not sure that even if I locate and repair this transformer that this will enable the unit to power up.
You say the blue tube has gone in the unit you have. Did it crack at the front and suck in the glycol?
Thanks

BV1600 have same smps and power input board that Barco 800 have. Stb power supply is in smps subboard. Check first all fuses from power input, smps and smps sub board.
www.curtpalme.com have board identifications pictures and some instructions to resolder some smps solder joints and there is also service manual for Barco 800. Server may be down right now...
Here is other Barco 800 site, with service manual.

Thank you for your help.
It would appear that I am missing both the EHT and SMPS boards. Hopefully I can find someone with them.
Thanks Again

You didn't buy this from a 'Steve' in Australia, did you? :(
The boards are the same as in a Barco 800, they should be easy to find. What makes you think that the set has a bad blue tube?

I bought it from a guy in Sydney who insisted he knew very little about the PJ but had this one in storage at a friends storage facility. I made several representations about tubes and being complete only to get the same response. So its my fault for being to trusting and well keen. I have found forum posts from a member named Satguy. If SatGuy is Steven then Iam starting to think its the same guy, particularly when he does not respond to messages at all.
The tube problem is a dead give away. Its full of glycol.
Now I have discovered its also missing two boards, EHT and SMPS. Looks like I have out done myself.
Thanks
