A good firmware for DSM 520 takes a long time! We are waiting for linux.

The hardware becomes older and older!

Is there any possibility for a hardware extension? (There is much place inside!!)

Examples:
1) Is it possible to exchange the ARM processor by a STRONGARM or a XSCALE?
(Perhaps with the help of Linux people?)

2) Can the DSM-520 be prepared to H.264. Is there a better MPEG4 processor? Can the sigma part be exchanged?

3) Can the Wireless part be exchanged?

4) Can there be added a supplementary USB (on the back).

5) Is there a possibility for memory extension?

6) Is there a possibility for a miniPCI or even a PCI?

If there is any little hope, please answer!!!

These sorts of major hardware changes are really not very feasible. You'd be better off finding a media player already equipped with the desired hardware and then lobbying for firmware improvements from the manufacturer or hacking community to better utilize it.

So my dreams are destroyed.

If I look at the pictures in Suphammer, I see much little boards loosely connected with cables. They have clean plugs at their ends.

So I was hoping that one or the other of those boards could be nicely exchanged to a newer hardware.

There is much free space inside!!!

My secret wish was to throw a cheap mobilepro motherboard inside and to change some cables. So I could use the work the linux community effectuated.

This would be a wonderful device.

But it seems that the whole forms a complete unity in which you can't change anything.

So my dreams are destroyed.
