The more I use my Macbook Pro the more I love it but I have two more questions:
1. Is there anyway to increase the size of a window? I don't like how I can't drag the edges like I could in windows and my internet browser window for Safari is way too freakin small length wise.
2. How do I remove a program? In Windows I just deleted little things like pictures and music files but programs had to be removed in Add/Remove programs and not just thrown in the Recycle Bin, as I'm sure most of you knew already. Do I have to do this on my Mac or once I've thrown a program in the trash and emptied the trash is it gone forever?
Thanks for any help.

Most windows can be resized either by clicking on the green button at the upper left side of the window "frame", to "maximize" it, or by dragging the lower right corner as you'd do in Windows. You're right, you can't resize by dragging all four sides.
Simply dragging the application or its enclosing folder to the trash and emptying it is sufficient... mostly. Many apps put some files in other places, commonly somewhere in the Library subtree of your home directory. Without the application, they're harmless, unless they're big enough to make the "wasted" space an issue. For some reason Apple doesn't provide a standard uninstall utility, but there are third-party utilities that will do that, either at the time you want to remove the app, or later to "clean up" the loose-end files. I've never used any, so no recommendations.

The lower right hand corner of a window allows you to resize it.

Dragging an app to the trash will delete it. There may be preference files left in your Library/Preferences folder, and there may be files left under Library/Application Support. You can either delete these yourself, and there are a few app uninstaller apps available that will help to clean up. I generally just use Spotlight to find all files with the application name and drag them to the trash.
Command-Backspace is the "delete file" keyboard shortcut. If you were wondering why the delete key on the keyboard isn't deleting your files. David Pogues book The Missing Manual: OSX is worth a purchase if you're a first time Mac user.
