I was speaking to a local dealer who gave me some interesting views on two of these projectors.
RS1 they have never seen it
Dream Bee (which is a rebadeged RS1) claims not good on a 1.3 gain white screen and only okay on a greyhawk.
Meridain Faroujda Claims it was amazing as good as it gets with digital.
See why I am confused I was considering the JVC but my screen is a 110in diag Stewart 1.3 gain.
Any help on telling me why one is fanatstic and another is not good?

Rs1
Way to go into details TRYG.
HD1: Black and silver
HD1w: White
RS1: all black?
Dreambee and Cinversume have two additional looks to the "same" projector.
I do not understand the screen talk. Suitable brightness wil. depend on image sixe. If it is too birght to start with a high quality ND glass filter can be used to take it down a notch. When the lamp ages you can take the filter off.
There is no Meridian version of HD1/RS1.

maybe! But a look at the meridian D-ILA 1080MF1 and you can see where a mistake can be made!

Ozzy, I'm curious, what's wrong with the 1080MF1?
And Mattias, my old friend! I thought this Meridian was an RS1 tweaked by the estimable William Phelps, is that not correct?

The Meridian MF1 is based on the JVC HD10K. The HD10K and RS1 have a similar case appearance hence why some may get confused.
The RS1 uses a new panel drive tech to the HD10K and the Wm Phelps software is not compatible.

Thanks, Dazzer, I appreciate it!

HD10k can be made to have more accurate colour than the RS1 ( for rec.709). However it loses out on the black level and contrast the RS1 offers, I also found the HD10k noisy in comparison to the RS1 and the convergence was generally much better on the RS1. I seem to recall the hd10k didn't handle 24p either.
I wouldn't swap my HD1 for a 10k
