I just done watching Disturbia on Blu-ray. For this release Paramount went with an AVC encode averaging in the high 20's to low 30's Mbps. The PQ was decent. This release had little to no grain, I saw no macroblocking and no noise. I do feel that the image was somewhat soft and the colors were a bit washed-out (with the exception of outdoors scenes). I listened using the DTS ES 1.5 Mbps option. It sounded good, but I would rate it as average for the current state of HD Optical. The Center Channel produced the dialog in a clear and powerful manner, the Surrounds were used appropriately and even the LFE gets a word in here and there. If you are a fan of this film, I recommend this purchase.

I call dibs on the one you decide to sell, aka the HD DVD. :p
tauheel05 07-23-07, 11:57 PM Thanks, Josh. Looking forward to the review.
AaronSCH 07-23-07, 11:57 PM You honestly think he will keep the HD DVD version?
^ Nope. Just edited my post.
So if I'm reading correctly, the HD-DVD has DD+ while the Blu Ray has DD? I'm very curious as to how these sound.
Barbarian 07-24-07, 12:42 PM I also received the blu-ray version yesterday, but I ordered it from a certain place in Florida.
Vipper IV 07-24-07, 01:07 PM How's the quality?
Ten bucks says he gives the nod to HD DVD for audio, barely, while stating that the BD edges out the HD DVD for video. Meanwhile, all other real reviewers will say they look the same.

Both discs have the same DTS-HD track which should be equal or higher bitrate than the Dolby.
interested in the BR version if you sell

i don't see the trueHD track listed on the back, but there is dts-es which i believe is also at 1.5Mbps.
Blades of Glory will be the first Paramount disc with lossless audio.
Mr.Inzane 07-24-07, 02:49 PM This movie is false advertising!
It should have been called "Euphoria" because the movies serial killer plot was overshadowed by the exciting scenes where Mrs. Roemer(Ashley) took her daily swim! this movie was either about a hot chick with bad parents or an insecure perverted juvenile delinquent trying to get her in bed.
I hope im not the only one that thought this.

misread your post, but there's apparently no DTS-HD either, which i believe is supposed to be constant 3.0Mbps. seems the best available audio track is the DTS-ES.

Every one that I've listened to has been 1.5Mbps.

That would be nice. If so, I'd gladly get the Blu ray version. I just don't want to sacrifice any audio.
