Well, now that the Toshiba HD-A2 is selling for only $199 with free shipping, a free HDMI cable and you can still get 5 free HD DVD movies directly from Toshiba, is anyone considering buying one just for the drive itself to remove and use in your HTPC?

Considering the cost of the 5 free HD DVD titles are $120 - $150, this could be an excellent alternative. You'd effectively be paying less than $80 for an HD DVD drive for the PC.

How difficult is it to remove the drive. Has anyone confirmed that this will work?

MS just announced a price reduction on the XBOX 360 drive that includes the DVD offer... maybe a little less drastic an option than to rip the guts out of some other device...
