StarmanTHX 07-24-07, 08:23 AM OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH! Poltergeist. It's about time they remastered that film.
Justjayn 07-24-07, 08:32 AM Where is the world are Warner non-IME "catch-up" titles promised by the mid-year? Casablanca? Caddyshack?
Are you too busy catering to HD-DVD or working on your (already) failed TotalHD to remember your promises from CES?
Attention movie studios: if your going to release franchise titles, please release all of the titles in the series: Lethal Weapon, Superman, Alien, Rocky, Rambo come to mind.
John Ballentine 07-24-07, 09:54 AM Speaking of "catch-up" titles - where's Forbidden Planet?
txfilmguy 07-24-07, 11:50 AM Here's to hoping that Speilberg's office doesn't pull Poltergeist next week.
AaronSCH 07-24-07, 11:53 AM May I ask the source of this information? Is there a link to the article? I hope it isn't another empty rumor.
GizmoDVD 07-24-07, 12:00 PM Poltergiest was announced several months ago in a HTF chat.
The others are new to me.

So were Twilight Zone: The Movie and the direct-to-video "RETURN TO HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL." However, alot was discussed and mentioned for release including the often requested Dark Shadows films. But we know how that stuff sometimes pans out.

It will be "official" with a public announcement very shortly. Patience my friend.
Donnie Eldridge 07-24-07, 03:45 PM OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH! Poltergeist. It's about time they remastered that film.
Was it recently remastered?
Jiffylush 07-24-07, 04:02 PM I think there is supposed to be some sort of "choose your own adventure" aspect to Return to House on Haunted Hill.
Seems interesting, especially if it is a kid friendly horror movie.
Poltergeist is of course awesome, but why not more love for Twilight Zone the Movie?
Stevie76 07-24-07, 04:28 PM Poltergeist is one of my favorit movies of all time :)
Why canīt they make movies like that anymore? :(
If it was made today it would probably be drowning in crappy CGI FX, crappy actors and REALLY bad hip-hop songs on the soundtrack.
Looking forward to see Twilight Zone the Movie again.
Itīs been 10 years since I saw it. I really love the opening scene before the credits :)
Dave Mack 07-24-07, 04:41 PM I doubt Spielberg would have much pull with this title and with WB. Back in '82 although he was successful, he had NOWHERE near the power he has now. Since WB doesn't have any other Spielberg titles, it's not like if they piss him off it would matter.
It's not like a Juraassic Park-Universal scenario....
I watched Poltergeist on the Monsters HD channel on DishNetwork a few weeks ago - it was a fantastic HD transfer. I can only imagine how the BR should look.

Warner also has Empire of the Sun and The Color Purple - both of which I'd love to see on BR in the near future.

Empire of the Sun would make me cream.

Whoops! You are right!

Christian Bale's rising popularity may move Warner to release this film. It is one of my favorite Spielberg films.
Dave Mack 07-24-07, 07:16 PM agreed. Just rewatched recently and it is excellent!
Maestro J 07-24-07, 09:00 PM Wait until you check out "Return to House on Haunted Hill". It has the new navigation cinema which allows the viewer (if they wish) to determine the course of the film by selecting what the actor should or shouldn't do at certain parts of the movie. It's a cool new branching feature along the likes of the books where you can pick the storyline. It was demoed to us at the HME and it looks really cool.
If you don't like this concept, you can just run the movie the way the director and writers intended. But if you would like to jazz it up and see where the story might go by making some choices for the actors, then you can do that. Warner said that there are 94 possible ways the movie could go depending on what the viewer selects.
