The timing of the breakdown was especially awkward because it occurred shortly after Netflix management had briefed industry analysts on plans to improve its customer service in an increasingly bitter battle with rival Blockbuster Inc.

Lowering prices will erode Netflix’s profit — a sacrifice that the Los Gatos-based company is making in an attempt to regain market share from Blockbuster. The decision led to a further drubbing of Netflix’s already battered stock, which has plummeted by nearly 40 percent so far this year.

so much for the site being under maintainence, i had thought it actually was maintainance. they should have received one of my movies being sent back and another was to be on its way here and arrive tomorrow. i've gotten no emails saying so and if i dont get a movie tomorrow in my mailbox i will cancel my account and sign up on BB as my local store has a decent selection of BD movies available.

If any of the 3 BB's near my home would carry Blu I might stick with them. As it stands now my one month trial membership sees nothing but long wait or coming soon.

Peformance was unaffected by the site manintenance (why would it be?). I mailed two back yesterday and two more are on the way today. I also got emails and one about the price reduction, which is probably why they were re-tooling some things.

Don't line BB's greedy pockets.

What the movies are listed as means nothing. I've had movies listed as Very Long Wait ship out from down in my queue before movies at the top of my queue listed as Availible. There is little order at all.

i did receive my confirmation later last night, i have no intention to cancel my subscription after hearing many ppl's queue list on BD are full of "waiting" messages and so far i'm very satisfied with Netflix. when did you guys receive your price reduction emails? i'm on the 2-disc plan and have not received any price reduction emails.

I never got an e-mail about the price reduction, but a couple of weeks ago, when I clicked to the NF website, I was taken to a special page that said my 2-disc plan was reduced by $1.00 to $13.99. That page never came up again after that.

I got my notification of the price reduction this morning. Woohoo!

I also went to Blockbuster last night to rent Weeds Season 2, and not only was it only available in SD, but the BD section was picked through (most of the titles were out). I could only find a copy of Weeds Season Two on Bluray at BestBuy, and they wanted MSRP ($39.99) as opposed to the price Fry's and Amazon have (~$24.99).

the press release states that the price reduction is only for the 3 disc and 1 disc plan, now $16.99 and $8.99. The other plans are not affected.
