Hi,
I am ready to buy a storex AivX 360HD (which seems to be a rebranded Sarotech). Unfortunately, I am not able to test the device, and I feel that the sotftware may be lacking (I have seen a no-name chinese portable mp3 player once, and while the hardware was good, and the specs list seemed ok, the software was beyond awfull [brainded navigation, very very slow response, etc, etc])
So, is the Sarotech any good ? In particular, I am mainly interested in:
* Can it be fully operated with the LCD (my TV is a projector)
* I intent that my wife to use it to play mp3 with projector off. Is it possible to access a middle size libreary (we have around 300 CDs, that I plan to rip to mp3) on the LCD without loosing sanity ?
* Does the player use ID3 tags and display song info on the LCD while playing ?
* Is mp3 sound good ?
* I will also use it to play DiVX, so I don't have to burn them to DVDs before playing. Can the sarotech be mounted via its ethernet interface like a samba share ? (I use Mac OS X)
* Does it handle subtitles (.srt) correctly ?
* Does the sound/video is correctly sync all the time, even after moving to specific point in a DiVX ?
* Does it crashes often ?
Things I don't care about:
* The remote (the only button that will be ever used is the pause button during video playback)
* The image viewing capability
* The wmv format.
Does anybody knows a higher quality hard drive based non-portable MP3 player ? Or should I just put a 80Gb iPod with some docking station ?
Thanks in advance for any reply,
