I am completely amazed!

PS3 + Software update 1.9
PLV-70 + "fix"
PLV-70 said to work only with max 1080i@50 or 60 Hz
1080i@50 Hz (PAL DVDs, Code 2): fine
1080i@60Hz: PS3 desktop, PS3 games: fine

1080p, 60 Hz: there is a picture but with slight disturbancies
switch to 1080p, 24 Hz (not automatic but on): same picture
(for desktop or games)

Insert blue ray disk & play: superb picture without any disturbancies at 1080p24!

PLV-70 owners: try it!

Steve99,
I'm not sure what you're amazed about. Can you elaborate a bit? Maybe I missed some earlier threads about a "fix" to the PLV-70?

I own the earlier PLV-60 and have it connected to my PS3 and Blu Ray looks great as well. Of course, I'm only using 720p since the LCD panels of the PLV-60 (&70) don't support higher resolutions than that.

Oddly, even though I'm using a projector that can now be bought on EBay for $400 (used), it's still good enough that I keep putting off upgrading! The main problem with my projector is contrast.

So maybe you can explain a bit more about what you're finding is amazing?

Thanks!

He's amazed that it is accepting and displaying 1080p at a 24Hz input rate.

If I only had the damn fix for mine.

Steve99,

Do you have to use DVI-HDMI changer to get to to your PLV-70? I try to check with DC, it seems like they are out of dd-d12p DVI amp.Is there anything else out there that can do this. I have PLV-70 and PS3 as well.

Together with the fix I am using a HDMI-DVI converter and a high-end DVI-cable to the PLV-70.
Of course we are talking about the digital (HDMI 1.3 -to DVI) connection of the PS3 with the PLV-70.

Hi!

Sorry for my ignorance, but what "fix" is everybody talking about? What does it fix, why does it need to be fixed and where exactly do I get this fix?

Thanks!

I could be wrong, but the fix sounds like a workaround for the lack of HDCP on the PLV 70. The switcher somehow defeats the lack of HDCP on the DVI input of the PJ. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Correct Herb,
actually it's an decription device that has quite a story behind it, it was an honest "mistake".
Looks like there is no more inventory now but here is the link.
