View Full Version : Toshiba 32A10 CRT - "enhanced mode"??

Good day!

I have a Toshiba 32A10 (32") CRT 4:3 TV to which I've connected an AppleTV using the component inputs. The AppleTV -does- support 480i -but- requires that the TV set have something it calls "enhanced definition". I can see nothing in the Toshiba's normal user menus that mentions this feature.

What I get on the Toshiba's screen (from the AppleTV) is this:

4:3 content is pillarboxed
16:9 content is vertically stretched to fill the height rather than being letterboxed (but it does fill the width).

Other than this issue, the AppleTV works great. So is there anything in the "service menu" (mute then mute/menu) that would enable this feature or is this the reason the TV was so reasonably priced when I bought it some years ago? (*grin*)

Thanks in advance for any advice any might provide. :)

Hi there,

I was given a Toshiba 32A10 that needed repair. It is now fixed and working, but not all the registers in the micro are set correctly as I had to default the microprocessor. The picture is currently a little dark and the contrast is excessive.

I have a set of schematics and can email them to you if you need them, but I was wondering if I send you instructions, could you copy down the current settings of the micro registers in your 32A10 and email them to me? I would be most appreciate as the Toshiba docs that theoretically describe the procedure suck.

Thanks in advance!

Bob,

Talk about bad timing. I just replaced the Toshiba with a wide-screen LCD. The Toshiba has been given away. Sorry I couldn't help.
