Hi,
I currently have my HD A2 player hooked up to my Sony KV36HS500 via HDMI>DVI cable. The picture looks great except for one small caveat. When there is any dark scene or dark object in the frame whenever there is movement the image in the dark spot will hang around for longer than the surroundings. I don't know if it is ghosting or not but it is very annoying. For instance, in Eternal Sunshine, the white buttons on Jim Carey's black jacket appear to have trails as the camera pans up. I don't know any technical terminology but hopefully someone will understand what I am trying to say. I appreciate any possible help on this annoying matter.

Thank You!

Your white level may be too high causing blooming and phosphor trails. Try adjusting Picture(contrast, white level) level down.

I have the same problem with my XBR 970 with Sony 77H upscaling DVD player over HDMI.

I don't think it's the contrast levels because they are set at around half the default level for the Pro setting.

It only happens when watching DVD's. Regular HDTV programs are not nearly as bad.

Panning scenes on DVD's make me almost nauseous, especially fast panning. The TV screen and or DVD player just can't keep up with the image as it move across the screen. Very disappointing.

Thanks for the reply, but I checked my picture level and its actually below 50%, any ideas on what else could help out to reduce this problem?

Thanks

I also have observed that when I turn off my XBR970, a trace of whatever image was on the screen remains for a few seconds. I have never seen any other TV do this.

I also now recognize that my set has the problem with a scrolling vertical bar. I tried looking through old threads but couldn't figure out if there was ever a way to fix this or not? If it makes any difference my set was manufactured in May '03.
