Long time lurker finally making his first post! Gotta say AVS has saved me much time and frustration in the past and I hope I can get some info on a question I have.

Under the Sound Settings for the PS3, it allows you to choose between various Audio Outputs that your receiver and cabling allows. However, as far as I can see, there's no way to select WHICH of the selected Outputs you prefer the PS3 to try first, it's all automatically done.

For a simple example: Say I choose Dolby Digital and DTS. I boot up Resistance: FOM and it automatically selects Dolby Digital, however, the game ALSO supports DTS. What I want to know: Is there a way to tell the PS3 to check if the game supports DTS first and then switch to Dolby Digital if it does not? Cause as of now I know you can keep Dolby Digital unselected and only have DTS and Linear PCM, etc. selected if you want DTS playback, however any game that only supports Dolby Digital will be forced down to 2 Channel Linear PCM if DTS is only selected.

The quick and easy: Does anyone know if you can create a hierarchy of Output selections so the PS3 will check for your number one Output first and continue down the list until it finds one that is supported? IE: DTS, DD, AAC, etc.?

Thanks for all the help you've provided in the past and to that which lays in the future!

Games don't use DTS, and the PS3 uses the best supported option.
