I want to get an external drive to back up all of my data. I really want a USB2.0 that does not require a seperate power cable(takes its power over USB). I think these are 2.5" hard drives.
Do these kind work ok with the PS3? I want to be able to hotswap this drive back and forth from my computer to my ps3.
WD Passport line. I have the 120Gig backed up (and encrpyted) my important PC files and Backed up the PS3 (just in case it crashes) and still have plenty of room for pics video clips and music. I dont store anything on my PS3 HD. It all goes to the WD

I bought a 160GB 2.5" drive and a USB case for it. I put the 160GB drive in the PS3, and the PS3's 60GB drive now lives in the case. The 60GB drive works great by just plugging it in to the PS3's USB port. I use it to move files between the PS3 and my PC (for backups and such).
That said, I prefer having the larger drive in the PS3. 60GB is plenty for my portable needs, but with all of the videos, game demos, and Linux, I only have about 95GB left of PS3 space.
