Has anyone done a comparison of SD-DVD sales split up either by the titles or studios (or both) that also release BD and HD-DVD discs? Specifically, I'd be interested to know:

- SD-DVD sales of BD exclusive titles vs. SD-DVD sales of HD-DVD exclusives
- SD-DVD sales of all BD studios vs. SD-DVD sales of all HD-DVD studios

I've seen comparisons with theater box office rates and release dates and overall BD vs. HD-DVD numbers but wonder if anyone's comparing the SD-DVD heft of the backers of these formats.

HD Media is less than 1% of total sales (HD DVD, BD, SD DVD)

Has anyone done a comparison of SD-DVD sales split up either by the titles or studios (or both) that also release BD and HD-DVD discs?I don't think I have seen anything like that, not sure how interesting it would be. BD has more studios, so I would assume they would take that (although Universal is pretty big just on its own). More important would be to compare the total gross of each title currently available on hi-def disc and compare.

I mean, Fox and Disney sure have a lot of hit movies, but if they aren't available it doesn't mean much right now. Similarly, there are big hits from Universal (like Back to the Future), we have yet to see released. So it is only fair to compare titles that are released. Who knows what studios might do in the future (go neutral, only release some of their catalog, downloads, etc.)?

I was just about to post something similar. I'd love to find a good reference for HD-DVD & Blu-ray software and player sales. I'd like to then compare it to DVD player & software sales that started in '97. For instance, it took 5 years for DVD players to reach 30 million in the US. I'd like to compare that to the current player sales (yes, including the PS3 and 360 add on). If anyone has any sales data or links to it, I'd appreciate it.

It would be very interesting to see if the SD version of the HDM new release titles have the same sales percentages.

From the top 10 lists for this week on the Nielsen thread HDMs seem very much an enthusiasts' format at this point.
