Interesting read I found on slashdot (http://linux.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/07/26/1428207&from=rss), it seems Dell wants better Linux drivers from ATI. Not sure what to think, I guess if they choose to keep the drivers open source, a little pressure from a big boy like Dell can't hurt speed things along. It is also interesting how serious Dell seems to be taking Linux. It is also interesting that there is a link at the bottom talking about Google's interest in ATI/nVidia Linux drivers.

Just thought I would pass along.

Hmm.. I'll consider buying another ATI card when there are drivers available and tested. ATI has been saying the right things about Linux for many years now, but never really produced anything.

Hopefully Dell can really exert pressure on them.. market pressure carries a lot more weight than complaints of Linux users. This, and the AMD ownership of ATI may give Linux drivers a better chance than ever before. But, I'm waiting for proof first.

What should be a shiny new toy at work has just been a headache (dell optiplex 745) , trying to get beryl or compiz or compiz-fusion running with dual monitors has driven me up a wall.

Thanks ATI,Your X1300 operates about the same as 2 last century graphics cards
