If someone has this TV and a PS3, they will be able to help me out quite a bit.

For awhile now, I have noticed a dip in the bottom of my TV. If there is a ticker along the bottom, it will DIP down and some of it will go out of the picture. I'm dealing with it at this point, but now another issue has come up.

With the recent addition of the wallpaper feature, I noticed another big problem.

If someone could please try and recreate this issue, I would appreciate it:

-Go to any 16:9 picture that fills your (HDTV) screen.
-Press triangle and hit "Set as Wallpaper"

Now, when the picture zooms out, you can clearly see every part of the picture, all edges and everything. Now, make sure you are zoomed all the way out so that you will use ALL of the picture and press OK.

KEEP WATCH RIGHT HERE.

When the picture zooms to fill your screen, are any of the edges cut off? On my TV, I lose part of the picture from every angle--- as if my projector is zooming into the picture a little. I have had my light engine replaced twice by Samsung for the "dip" at the bottom.. but it still remained. Is something else internally wrong with my TV, or is this a PLAYSTATION 3 thing that happens?

Even if you bring up a full size picture.. look at the thumbnail before loading it-- does anything get cut off? I've tried with all my pictures, and I always lose some of the edges.

One time, I tried pushing the top of my TV, so I could see the little that was behind the outer lining of the TV, but after about half an inch, it was all black. That made me think that this might be a PS3 problem, and not my TV.

If anyone could report back on this, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

I have this exact TV and don't have the issues you mention. I DO however have an issue with the PS3 web browser not scaling correctly. The top part of the browswer is cut off for me.

Forgive me if I'm incorrect here because I don't know all Sammy's models. My parents have the HL-T5076 which is the DLP slim line. Their TV has geometry issues. The screen somewhat bulges outward and give a "smiley face" effect with straight lines on the TV, like ticker bars. I would head over to the TV forums and find one for your specific TV. I bet you would get more help there. Good Luck!!

yeah I don't think that is a common sammy issue. At least speaking from mine. The display on mine is perfectly straight to the human eye.

It is common on the new slim line of DLP and some other models. Take a look over in the DLP forum and find the thread for it. But you can only see it with a straight line up. It would bug me knowing it was there but they don't notice and besides that the HD picture looks great.

It sounds like the dip is caused by a geometry problem. In other words, the screen that the image is being projected on isn't perfectly square with the rest of the projection assembly inside the TV. This will cause a distorted picture. Because it sounds like it's just the bottom of the screen with the problem, I would venture that it's bowed or warped in some way. Can you change the way the image looks by twisting the entire front of the TV?
Either way, if there is a problem, your warranty should take care of that.

Also, it sounds like you have the TV picture control settings set to "wide fit" instead of "just scan". I hope this is the case, because that's easily fixed...
