I own both the 985 & 995 400 dvd changers. Up to now, i have enjoyed having them keepng all my dvd's safe in 1 spot.

I just went out & bunch of new dvds that came out & put them into my changers, i had 9 slots on the 985 & plenty in the 995. Later that night, i went to go watch 1 of my new dvd's that was in the 985, but the player kept saying bad disc, to all 9 that i just put in. i took all 9 out, tried em in my xbox360, my pioneer, & other dvd players in my house, they played just fine. but if i put them in any slot in my 985/995, they will not read, nor play, & sony was no help. i was able to take an existing disc, from say slot 99, & put it in any of the remaining 9 slots & plays fine.

so now i have like 200-300$ of new dvds my changers won't play.

Any help would be greatful..

First step: make sure your discs are clean. Then run a cleaning disc in the changer. (You can get cheap ones at dollar stores.) Hopefully this will help.

If those are Sony discs, then they might be some of the discs that had a copy protection scheme that makes a bunch of players fail, including the 995. There is a firmware upgrade for the 995 but I suspect you're SOL on the 985.

Go look at the last couple of pages of this thread for info on the firmware update:

[sotto voce] or rip the discs and burn new discs (cough, cough)

Thanks, i will try cleaning disc today when i go out.

earlier yesterday when i was testing, i took out some old discs to try in a differnt player, put them back in the same slots, made sure discs were clean, & changer wouldn't read em.

hopefully, the disc cleaner or firmware will help,..
