I just updated my firmware, and the problem went away. So, my bad.

Yeah, my bad. I updated my firmware and all's good now. I'm finished the flick right now.

I'm getting the movie this week hope it works good. I think it will. Although I'm eagerly awaiting my update disc from toshibia. (No PC or highspeed connection at the moment). Have 2.0 now for the A1.



I bought the region 2 disc a month ago. mostly for the extras. Although I see the HDDVD is getting most of them. But as far as a movie it was very funny I may have to watch it again. Before the HD-DVD so I can compare..

If you are any kind of fan of action films or buddy cop movies, you will love this movie. I've watched it several times in the last few days. A1 with 2.0 firmware, worked flawlessly. Lots of features on the disk too.

I ordered my copy on Ebay Monday and received it today. The only problem is it is a bootleg DVD without a case, not the HD-DVD that was stated in the auction. The person has 100% feedback so I hope they resolve this otherwise I am driving to New York and bitchslapping someone.

I got it for $25 vs $30 or so. It wasn't about the money though. I just couldn't wait until Tuesday.

There are places to get disks early that are reputable. PM me if you are interested.

I saw that one. I almost bid on it until the picture was of the DVD case and in the description it said fullscreen.

On Ebay you have to be careful because I have noticed on some auctions that sellers will put it in the HD DVD section even though it is just a regular DVD.

I wish that was the case and I could blame myself. Then I would not be so pissed off. This must have been a different one. It just had a stock HD-DVD photo and even the specifics claimed to be HD-DVD. I just got screwed, it'll happen.

Yeah, she said that she would refund $20 of my $25, only after she received the movie back. I told her that wouldn't work and if I did not receive a full refund first I would contact the FBI and let them know that she was selling pirated movies on Ebay. She sent the money to my paypal account within an hour and has sent me half a dozen emails apologizing. I guess I had to play hardball.

Has anyone had any problems with the SD side of the disk. My mum borrowed it to watch on her SD setup, and on about chapter 16 (i think), it skips half a chapter. It goes from him fighting the big guy in his bedroom, smashes the plant pot on his head, it freezes, then jumps to him running outside (chapter 17 i think). If you rewind the disk, you can see the missing bit.
It may just be her DVD player is bad, I haven't had a chance to play it on my setup yet, but wondered if anyone else had seen this?

sounds like a disc issue most likely. try it on your player and if it works fine it's the player. If it duplicates you have a disc issue.

Thats one thing I don't like about Ebay now.....having to wade through all of the crooks on there selling copies. I guess its not as bad with HD DVD and Blu rays as it is with DVDs. Glad you got all of your money back.

Well I hope you gave the seller negative feedback so others don't fall for that again... the feedback system is there for a reason.

So i started to watch Hot fuzz on my A3 and it started freezing at around 1:01 and cannot play properly. Who else has experienced this? Anyway to resolve this issue? This really sucks as i only recently went "Purple" :(

I had the same problem with my first copy of Hot Fuzz.

Got a replacement copy and it works fine.

There is a bad batch of this HD DVD that always freezes around 58 to 1:01 into the movie.

Same thing with "A Clockwork Orange" HD DVD. Several people, including me, had the disc freeze at about 55 minutes into the movie.

Again, it has to be a bad batch because many people have watched it with no problems.

Seem to be quality control issues with HD DVD right now.

Yep, get your self a new disc as it happens from time to time..
