I have the 360 HDDVD addon and a samsung bluray P1000 hooked up via 5.1 analog.
I want the best possible sound from 300 when i buy it. Is there anybody who has done a comparison or can tell me for sure that the PCM track on the bluray will beat down the TrueHD track on the HDDVD when using the 360 addon????
thanks.
The extra features on the HDDVD do not concern me.
you can't get lossless sound out of the XBOX add-on. If sound quality is all you're concerned about, get the blue-ray version

TrueHD = PCM ;)
but ya , you wont get truehd out of the add on
in your case if you can get the blu-ray version for sound and you care not about extras ... then do it cause like these guys have said, its impossible to get the 5.1 TrueHD mix off of the add on....

But just as a riminder you miss out on some cool features if you get the BD version. Also keep in mind the HD-DVD does have lossless so in the future when you get a true HD-DVD standalone player you get the best of both worlds.

If I were you I would sell the ADDON and use that money to buy an A2 if the very best sound quality is important to you. Assuming you have an AVR that can handle Lossless sound. If it's just this title you are worried about then just buy the BR version. Although I seriously doubt anyone (who owns an ADDON) will complain about the sound from this movie coming out of an ADDON. It will still sound amazing.
Just not as amazing if you had a stand alone player.

For best AQ on your setup you'll need to get the Blu-Ray version.
The TrueHD track is useless on your 360 add-on, but the PCM track should sound amazing on your P1000.

also bear in mind to enjoy any kind of lossless with Blu-Ray you need a receiver with 6-channel analog inputs or HDMI (that supports Multichannel PCM, not all do).
