Yeah, I don't wanna see any of the characters speak in a dubbed Japanese voice unless:

a) I want to have a laugh
b) Remember a really kick-ass line and be able to say it in Japanese

Amazon Japan is having it at 3,800 Yen (about $32 USD) per volume for international customers. If you had pre-ordered it before July 27 it would have been only 2,850 Yen ($24 USD) per volume.

It's 2 episodes per disc and there's 5 discs. I still haven't received mine so looking forward to getting it.

EDIT: I guarantee that the US version will be cheaper and be in a complete box set unlike the Japanese release. I also think that the US version will have the same features as the DVD but that's my opinion.

Yeah, I hope its released here soon....but I bet it will be at least a year from now probably more.

When it does come out it would be interesting to see if there's any (real) difference between the Japanese AVC H.264 encode and the US VC-1 encode (as warner's default codec).

Yes the menu is in Japanese only, I made a quick translation of the menu in the other thread + in the imports sticky thread.

Note that the documentary extra on disc 5 has English audio with forced Japanese subs but in the main features (10 episodes) the Japanese subs are fully optional.

Yes, Amazon JP sells HD DVDs at MRSP most of the time, only in the pre-order phase before the release date they offer 25 % discount.

Some other Japanese online shops are offering them cheaper than MRSP (though not as cheap as Amazon pre-order price was). They might not have international shipping nor much support for English though, I'll post here if I find some other good source for international orders with discounted prices.

I'll be waiting for the US set on this but I'm really looking forward to it.

I can understand why some ppl will wait for the US release but I will jump onto any version of any movie and even this if it means getting it before the US release.

It's rather frustrating that this was promised for 2006 and we still haven't seen it yet. This is my favorite mini series and it's painful to know that it's done on HD but hasn't been released yet here.

What's the PQ like on this one? I believe that these were all shot in film but I could be wrong. They are very stylized and 'crisp' on DVD but sadly I never saw the original 720P HBO-HD showings of them.
