I have been having problems with my 8300HD on the upper channels like above 500 my picture will freeze and the tile has any one experienced this problem. I have it hooked up through a HDMI cable. I do not have a problem with it on a dvd player that has HDMI. I think that it might be a problem with both the cable company and the 8300HD

What you're seeing is signal degradation. It is a signal issue, not an issue with the SA converter. Tiling/freezing is basically the digital equivalent of a snowy picture.

This is caused when you have a poor signal to noise ratio, which is due to some kind of line issue (anything from ingress, damage to the line, poor quality cable, etc). If you can verify that connections on your end are good, you'll more than likely need to have Time Warner come out.

Can you give me some numbers so i can look at my cable box? RF Paramameters are tuner 1: 13 dbmv FDC 1dBmV and RDC 52 Dbmv. I have tried both with and without a drop amp and still have problems. All jack are terminated if there is not an end point.

I've had an instance where higher channel numbers wouldn't tune because of a bad cable junction at a hallway (apt. building) drop point to my apartment. A cable tech's meter will show too low signals for upper bands, and the cable company should repair the problem. If available, might want to try a YPbPr hookup as a quick test. -- John

Thank you John for the info. I will give that idea a shot.
