A few news stories and even more Blu-boys tried to spin it as though Target was going BD exclusive. Well ...

http://www.engadget.com/2007/07/28/false-alarm-targets-not-giving-up-on-hd-dvd/

"As noted on Engadget HD the other day, and further clarified by Major Nelson this morning, that story about Target going exclusively Blu-ray was false. Turns out they're just installing Blu-ray aisle end caps, thanks to a new promotional deal with Sony, but HD DVD isn't going anywhere. Hopefully you haven't chucked out your HD DVD collection just yet in a concession to defeat at Thursday's "news," but if you have it's always good to know you can score replacements at your local Target, just like always."

I'm sure that Toshiba could buy an end cap as well if they wish.

This is getting ridiculous. I ignore all the B.S. I don't shop at Target anyway. HD-DVD rocks, for half the price. End of story.

AVS is becoming a joke with threads like this. The Target article is about carrying the Sony BD player as its exclusive high definition player through the holiday, in the article it talks of an endcap, thus press release is not about Sony merely buying an endcap its sony buying an endcap for a product that Target is selling exclusively........seriously

The end cap was a secondary story to Target exclusively carrying stand alone players for Blu-ray this holiday season. The fact that they are also going to be expanding their Blu-ray movie inventory is also secondary. It has been clear to me from the beginning that they would continue to sell the 360 add-on and a selection of HD-DVD movies as they have been.

Endgate hasn't exactly been HD-DVD's best friend, so for them to call Sony on their PR release is significant. If anything it underscored the desperation with which Sony wants HD-DVD to go away or risk Toshiba's format making a significant inroad into consumer homes with below-$200 HD-A2 players in the Q4 of '08.

That tombstone is unrealistic. Where's the flowers and beer bottles?

Is that what sheep jump over when you're counting them as you try to go to sleep at night?
Close. It's a pictorial representation of his slumberous pipe dream.
